Is it spring yet?

The weather forecast says no.

The baby birds tucked warmly inside my chimney say yes.

So here's my dilemma - light up the fireplace for the next 48 hours to stay warm in our subzero wind chill temps with the risk of killing these sweet baby birds? Or save the fire for the next cold front in the hopes that said baby birds will have learned how to fly and escape certain doom?

Bruiser is none too pleased about our new residents. He keeps peering up the chimney as if to say, "I know you're there, and I'm not afraid to climb up there if you keep up with that racket!"

I'm pretty sure he just handed me a match.
